Duaine P. Wood, age 88, of Alexandria, died peacefully surrounded by his family on Friday, June 6, 2025, at his home under the care of Vivie Hospice.
Funeral services are 11 a.m., on Friday, June 13, 2025, at Lake Community Church in Alexandria with Rev. Dan Johnson presiding. Full military honors will be accorded by the Minnesota Honor Guard, and the Veteran’s Memorial Honor Guard. Interment will take place at 11 a.m., Monday, June 16, 2025, at the Minnesota State Veterans Cemetery, Little Falls.
Visitation is 5-7 p.m., on Thursday, June 12th at Lind Family Funeral Home and will continue one hour prior to the service at the church.
Duaine Paul was born on August 14, 1936, to Raymond and Eloise (Cummings) Wood in Willmar. As a teen, Duaine was a golden glove boxer, worked as a pin setter at the local bowling alley and graduated from Willmar High School. He entered the U.S. Air Force, was stationed in Lincoln, Nebraska and Guam from January 1954 – July 1957. He was a fireman while in the service and active in boxing. Duaine was united in marriage to Noelle Swanson in 1956, at Green Lake Lutheran Church in Spicer, and they were blessed with three sons. Following his honorable discharge, he worked with Boeing Aircraft in Wichita, Kansas. He later relocated to Shakopee, Minnesota, and worked as a foreman at L.H. Soles, Iron Works, Union Local #512. He was united in marriage to Lois (Hultstrand) Kieffer in December of 1982, at First Presbyterian Church in Shakopee. Duaine later began working for Control Concepts in Eden Prairie until his retirement in 1998, at which time he and his wife Lois moved to Alexandria. Duaine loved fishing. In addition, he enjoyed camping, welding, and doing miscellaneous projects. He was a member of Lake Community Church. Duaine’s faith was evident to those who knew him, and he looked forward to going to his heavenly home and spending eternity with his Savior, Jesus.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Duaine is survived by his wife of 42 years, Lois; three sons, Paul (Gwen) Wood of Mound, Glen (Cynthia) Wood of Wilkinson, Indiana, and Keith Wood of Omaha, Nebraska; brother, Robert Wood of Worthington; five grandchildren, Thomas (fiancée Andrea Sorensen) Wood, Rachel (Nic) Berkwood, Laura Kauth, Nick (Nakayla) Hicks, and Daniel (Rachel) Wood; five great-grandchildren, Weston Berkwood, Rocco Hicks, Cruz Hicks, Caylyn Roddy, and Rome Kauth; former wife, Noelle Setrum of McCordsville, Indiana; and several nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers are Thomas Wood, Paul Wood, Daniel Wood, Dave DeFoe, Mark Berge, and Scott Wood. Honorary pallbearers are Roger Johnson and the Hardees Coffee Group.
