Dorothy Clara was born to Charles and Clara (Roth) Schuneman on September 28, 1934, in Belle River. She was baptized and confirmed at Immanuel Lutheran Church (now known as Trinity Lutheran Church) in Carlos.  Dorothy attended District #62, through the 8th grade and graduated from Central High School in Alexandria in 1952. She was united in marriage to Robert Pederson on December 21, 1955, at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Carlos. Bob was serving in the U.S. Air Force at that time, they were stationed at different Bases in the U.S. and overseas. Following his honorable discharge, they returned to Minnesota where Bob worked in sales and they lived in Spicer, Miltona, and Alexandria. Dorothy was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Carlos. In her earlier years, she assisted Bob in the office. She enjoyed bird watching, working in her flower garden, baking, cooking, and working on puzzles and word find.

She is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Robert “Bob” Pederson; brothers, Harlan, Merle, George, and Richard Schuneman; and brother-in-law, Dean Yohnke.

Dorothy is survived by her son, Bret (Angie) Pederson of Alexandria; daughter, Kimberly (Mark) Deniswicz of Superior, Wisconsin; four grandchildren, Chanse (Carly) Pederson of Carlos, Cassidy Pederson of Alexandria, Kayla Deniswicz of Brookfield, Wisconsin and Mitchell Deniswicz of Neenah, Wisconsin; sister, Eleanor Yohnke of Carlos; sisters-in-law, Lillian, Barb, and Gloria Schuneman, and Irene Tvrdik all of Alexandria; along with numerous nieces, nephews, and relatives.

Pallbearers will be her family. 

Dorothy died on Wednesday, March 15, 2023, surrounded by her family at Alex Assisted Living under the care of Hospice of Douglas County, at the age of 88 years.

Funeral services are 11 a.m., Monday, March 20, 2023, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Carlos with Rev. Mark Schwarz officiating. Music is provided by organist, Elaine Beulke. Interment will take place at the church cemetery.

Visitation is 4-6 p.m., Sunday, March 19th at Lind Family Funeral Home in Alexandria and will continue one hour prior to the service at the church.
