Dorcus Adele (Rolfzen) Auran was born on April 9, 1938, in Fargo, North Dakota. The daughter of Edwin and Mildred Rolfzen, Dorcus grew up and attended school in Melrose. On September 17, 1955, Dorcus married Milford Auran of Alexandria, at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Melrose. Together they raised their two sons, Steve and Kyle, in the Alexandria area.

Dorcus started her working career at American Laundry in Alexandria before being employed by Bethany Home in the house keeping department for several years. She later worked at Discovery School in the kitchen as head cook until she retired in 2000.

Dorcus enjoyed bowling and golfing in her earlier years and making quilts with her sister-in-law, Carol Bundy. Later in life, she spent her time putting dozens of puzzles together and playing cards (Bridge) with her girlfriends and Cribbage with Pastor Wilke from Zion Church. She also liked having breakfast with several friends once a month at Brass Lantern and Traveler’s Inn. Dorcus cherished time spent with her grandchildren, Kolten and Auvryelle whenever possible. She also enjoyed watching Minnesota Gopher Football and the Vikings.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Milford; parents, Edwin and Mildred Rolfzen; and sister, Paulette.

Dorcus is survived by her sons, Steve Auran of Alexandria and Kyle Auran of Glenwood; brother, Gary (Karen McCurdy) Rolfzen of The Villages, Florida; nephew, Ryan Rolfzen with the U.S. Navy; grandson, Kolten Auran of Alexandria; and granddaughter, Auvryelle Auran of Alexandria.
