Donna M. Blair, age 91, of Alexandria, formerly of Glenwood, died on Saturday, January 2, 2021, at her son’s home and original farmstead near Glenwood.
A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m., Wednesday, January 6, 2021, at New Life Christian Church in Alexandria with Pastor Gregg Donnelly officiating. Music is provided by Laurie Musselman, Kari Ahlquist, and Ashley Ahlbrecht. Donna’s service will be livestreamed at www.lindfamilyfh.com/obituary/Donna-Blair. Interment will take place at Lake Ann Cemetery, rural Glenwood.
A visitation will be held from 4-7 p.m., Tuesday, at Lind Family Funeral Home in Alexandria and will continue one hour prior to the service at the church. Please honor all COVID-19 health mandates, including social distancing and wearing of facial coverings.
Donna Maxine was born on September 11, 1929, to Oscar and Anna (Carlson) Erickson on the family farm near Swift Falls. Donna attended Country School through the eighth grade and graduated from Glenwood High School in 1947. She was united in marriage to James “Dale” Blair on October 10, 1947, at the Reformed Presbyterian Church near Glenwood. Following their marriage they purchased a farm near Glenwood and named it, “Blair Farms”. She stayed at home to raise her children and was an excellent book keeper for the farm. During their life they attended First Baptist Church in Alexandria, Glenwood Baptist Church, and Alexandria Covenant Church. She enjoyed gardening, knitting, and was known for her baking (especially chocolate chip cookies). Most of all, Donna loved spending time with her family.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, James Dale; infant brother, Donovan Erickson; daughter-in-law, Lynn Blair; brother-in-law, Art Stone; and grandsons, Joey Ferguson and Daniel Ahlbrecht.
Donna is survived by her six children, Bob (Julie) Blair of Middlebury, Indiana, Bruce (Deb) Blair of Glenwood, Gary Blair of Sheldon, Iowa, Jim (Mary) Blair of Lowry, Jenell (Mike) Bernardy of Parkers Prairie and Jean (Tim) Ferguson of Alexandria; two brothers, Rodney Erickson of Moorhead and David (Nancy) Erickson of White Bear Lake; sister, Ardis Stone of Glenwood; 19 grandchildren; 45 great-grandchildren; a great-great-grandchild; and numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives.
Pallbearers are her grandchildren.
