Donn L. Sowers

Donn L. Sowers, age 62, of Carlos, died on Monday, September 19, 2022, at St. Lukes Hospital in Duluth.

A gathering of friends and family will be held from 5-8 p.m., on Friday, September 23, 2022, at Lind Family Funeral Home in Parkers Prairie.

Donn Lee Sowers was born on July 29, 1960, to Erwin and Audrey (Meader) Sowers in Wadena. He grew up in Parkers Prairie and was baptized and confirmed at Immanuel Lutheran Church. He graduated from Parkers Prairie High School in 1978. Donn began his auto body career at the age of 14, at Parkers Auto Body where he worked for many years following his education. He also was instrumental in the building of the first Parkers Prairie swimming pool. He also worked at several other body shops in the Alexandria area, most notably, Anderson’s Body Shop for 28 years. Health issues restricted him from continuing the ability to work full time, then part time until he was unable to work at all. He enjoyed cooking, canning, deer hunting, and four wheeling, especially at Spider Lake near Leader. He will long be remembered for his great sense of humor and his love of his dogs.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Donn is survived by his special friend of 22 years, Marcia Okerlund of Carlos; siblings, Harold (Jackie Ramey) Sowers of Parkers Prairie, Albert Sowers of Motley, Leona (Allan Skoglund) Nelson of Parkers Prairie, and Russ (Nancy) Sowers of Parkers Prairie; and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.
