Diane Marie Riedel

Diane M. Riedel, age 84, of Parkers Prairie, died on Monday, May 12, 2025, at St. William's Living Center, Parkers Prairie, Minnesota.

Diane Marie was born on September 18, 1940, to Marvin and Hilda (Dreger) Olson in Almora, MN. She was baptized on October 30, 1940 and confirmed on May 24, 1953, both by Pastor Fred Meyer at St. Paul's Lutheran Church, West Miltona.

She grew up near West Miltona and attended country school prior to graduating from Parkers Prairie High School in 1958. Diane continued her education at the Minnesota School of Business in Minneapolis where she earned a degree in Junior Accounting. Diane was united in marriage to Alan Riedel on August 20, 1960, at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in West Miltona by Pastor Karl Lassanske. Following their marriage, she worked as a bookkeeper for Bellanca Aircraft in Alexandria. She and Alan purchased their first home in 1965, on Highway 29/County Road 14, later building a larger home north of Alexandria on Highway 29. They moved to Parkers Prairie in 1969 after becoming part of Parkers Bus Company. Diane eventually became a co-owner with Alan and was the sole bookkeeper for over two decades. Diane and Alan moved to their home east of Parkers Prairie on County Highway 46, in 1971 and built a home on that same farm site. They both lived on the farm until moving into St. William's Living Center in the fall of 2024. She was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church; volunteered time with the Lutheran Women’s Missionary League (LWML) and as a Sunday School Teacher. She also served as an election official for Parker Prairie Township. She enjoyed researching and documenting her family’s genealogical history and visited ancestral cemeteries during nearly 15 years of traveling in their recreational vehicle. Diane enjoyed listening to music, particularly Elvis, embroidering, walking, and spending time with nature and her pets.

She was preceded in death by her parents and sister Janice Ritten.

Diane is survived by her husband of 65 years, Alan; daughter Gale Riedel of Parkers Prairie; and sons, Bret (Susan) Riedel of Faribault and Kyle (Maija) Riedel of Cranberry Township, Pennsylvania along with numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and loving friends.

Funeral service and interment will be held later.
