Diane M. Larson, age 85, of Alexandria, died on Monday, August 1, 2022, at Nelson Gables under the care of Knute Nelson Hospice.
A celebration of life service will be held at 11 a.m., on Monday, August 8, 2022, at First Lutheran Church in Alexandria with Rev. P.J. Malin officiating. Interment will take place at Kinkead Cemetery.
A visitation will be 3-5 p.m., on Sunday, August 7, 2022, at Lind Family Funeral Home in Alexandria and will continue one hour prior to the service at the church.
Diane Marie was born on May 29, 1937, to Olaf and Lillian (Blooflat) Brovold in Montevideo. She graduated from Montevideo High School at the age of 16 years. Diane attended the University of Minnesota where she met the love of her life, Minton Larson of Dawson. They were united in marriage on August 18, 1956, at Our Saviors Lutheran Church of Baxter in Dawson. Following their marriage, they made their home in Brooklyn Park where they were blessed with two daughters, Janell and Jilene. The family moved to Bemidji where both Diane and Minton completed their degrees in education before taking teaching jobs in Alexandria. Diane taught at Washington Elementary School until her retirement. She enjoyed playing the piano and accordion. Diane was a fabulous cook and loved to entertain friends and family. She was a member of the Alexandria Golf Club for over 45 years and enjoyed golfing and socializing. She was a member of First Lutheran Church. Diane loved spending time with her loved ones and will always be remembered for her devotion to her husband and family.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 65 years, Minton on June 14, 2022; daughter, Janell Lyon in 2020; granddaughter, Lexi Foley in 2021; sister, Lorraine Becker; and brother, David (Shirley) Brovold.
Diane is survived by her daughter, Jill (Dennis) Foley of Alexandria; granddaughter, Janaé (Natalie) Lyon; great-grandson, Silas Wensmann; along with several nieces and nephews; and a host of friends.
