Diane Lois Koranda

Diane L. Koranda, age 82, of Garfield, died unexpectedly on Friday, September 25, 2026, at Alomere Health in Alexandria.

Funeral services will be 11 a.m., on Saturday, October 3, 2026, at Shalom Lutheran Church with Rev. David Fleener presiding in Alexandria. Interment will take place at Leaf River Cemetery, Wadena.

The visitation is one hour prior to the service at the church.

Diane Lois was born on February 16, 1944, to Raymond and Lois (Gunn) Nicholson in Wadena. She graduated from Wadena High School in 1962. She later received her bachelor science degree from the College of St. Scholastica in 1990, and a master’s degree of Social Work at the University of Minnesota Duluth, in 1999. Diane was united in marriage to Joseph Glenn Koranda on October 16, 1982, in Mounds View. She worked in Duluth as a medical social worker at St. Luke’s Hospital from 1990-2000, and at St. Louis County Social Services from 2000-2010. Diane was a member of Shalom Lutheran Church, and a past volunteer at Habitat for Humanity. While living in Sun City, Arizona, she was a member of the AM Lutheran Church and active in the Paradise Performing Arts Assoc. Diane enjoyed crocheting, reading and spending time with her grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; grandparents; uncles, aunts, and husband, Joseph.

Diane is survived by her daughters, Emily (Tara Murino-Brault); son, Lief (Sarah Weber) Noll; step-children, Jason (Tasha) Koranda and Kerry Koranda; brother, Daniel (Jan) Nicholson; sisters, Janet (Roddy) Sams, Sally Nicholson, and Ronda (Jim) Stumbo; grandchildren, Greta (Rob) Noll, Lyd Noll, Gus Murino-Brault, Elias Patel, and Arishta Patel; step-grandchildren, Avery, Bennet and Laurel Koranda, and Eleanor (Hunter) Melton; great grandchildren, Arthur and Nora Melton; special brother, Bud (Shirley) Warnsholz; and many nieces and nephews.

Memorials are preferred to Habitat for Humanity.
