Deloris Ann Venekamp

Deloris Ann Venekamp, age 92, of Alexandria, passed away on Saturday, July 6, 2024, at Edgewood Vista. 

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m., on Thursday, July 11, 2024, at Lind Family Funeral Home in Alexandria with Rev. Kali Christensen officiating. Private family interment will take place at Fort Ripley Cemetery.

Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.

Deloris was born on January 11, 1932, to Delmar “Doc” and Anne Olga Christine (Bolte) Jaques in Lake Benton. She graduated from Lake Benton High School in 1950 and on February 17, 1951, married John Venekamp. They were blessed with two children, Barbara and David.

Over the years, John and Deloris lived in Pipestone, Fort Thompson, South Dakota, Mankato, Minnesota, Marshall and Alexandria. Deloris had several jobs and the one of which she was the proudest of was being an office clerk for the Minnesota State Patrol in Marshall for 25 years. She retired from that position in 1993 and moved to Alexandria. 

Deloris served in volunteer positions from 1995 to 2016, at the Early Childhood Center, Knute Nelson, Douglas County Hospital and Alexandria Food Shelf. 

Deloris always had coffee on or was willing to make some for guests and family. In addition, there were always cookies and her caramel rolls or “hard tacks” to enjoy.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Delmar and Anne Jaques; husband John; brother Bill Jaques; and sister Betty Mosier. 

Deloris is survived by her children, Barbara Venekamp and David (Patti) Venekamp both of Alexandria; sister Terri (Gary) Hurd of Marshall; five grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren and one great great-grandchild.
