David Richard was born on September 2, 1931, to Alfred and Sophia (Larson) Renne in Fertile. He was baptized and confirmed in the Faaberg Lutheran Church and was raised on the family farm. He attended country school through the eighth grade before continuing to work alongside his father on the farm while also helping care for his mother. A chance encounter at the hospital led to a date at the roller rink, where David met the love of his life. He married Darlene Graham on March 30, 1957, in a hospital ceremony witnessed by Darlene's father, with the marriage later that day celebrated at Chokio Methodist Church. The couple started their family in Lake Lillian before moving to Grove City, where David started a livestock trucking business. Due to health concerns, he was forced to step away from the business, which eventually led him to a career in law enforcement. He served first as the town police officer and later as chief of police before retiring from law enforcement in 1978. David then began a trucking career, first driving for Arctic Cat and later for Anderson Trucking, where he logged more than one million miles before purchasing his own semi-truck. Often accompanied by Darlene, he continued driving for many years before retiring in 1997. Following retirement, David and Darlene sold their home in Grove City and divided their time between Lake Havasu, Arizona, and Lobster Lake near Alexandria. They enjoyed traveling between their winter and summer homes, tending flowers and a large garden, fishing, and spending time on the water. David genuinely enjoyed meeting people and maintaining the many friendships he built throughout his life. Wherever life took them, David remained steadfast in his faith, which continued to grow after he and Darlene began attending Alexandria Covenant Church, where they remained faithful members for more than a decade. Above all, David was most proud of his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and the generational legacy he and Darlene created together.

He is preceded in death by his parents; brother, Everett; sister, Shirley Hamre; son-in-law, Randy Morley; and granddaughter, Kellie Renne.

David is survived by his wife of 69 years, Darlene Renne; 7 children, Don (Tammy) Renne, Jim (Vicki) Renne, Becky (Rick) Burgess, Tammie (Tom) Zemke, Brenda Morley, Mike (Tina) Renne, and Mark (Chauntel) Renne; 20 grandchildren; 22 great grandchildren; and a host of extended family and friends.

Serving as urn bearers will be David's grandsons, Matthew and Adam Renne.
