Daniel Joe was born on November 2, 1961, to Dale Sr. and Shirley (Schwartz) Denny in Wadena. He grew up with his eight siblings on the family farm. He was baptized and confirmed at St. Ann's Catholic Church in Wadena and attended Bertha-Hewitt public schools, graduating in 1980. In his youth, Danny was passionate about harness racing. He traveled with his father and family to many tracks, including Canterbury Park, where they participated in races. He married Monica Rick in 1988 and together they raised  their children on the farm in Carlos. He started his career with carpentry jobs in the surrounding areas and later worked as a farmhand at Roy Olson Farms for over 20 years. During the summer months, “Pony Express” brought horses to state fairs and town celebrations across the Midwest to give pony rides to numerous children. Outside of work, Danny loved motorcycles, collected several, and enjoyed riding as much as he could. He also enjoyed hunting, riding/training horses with his family. He never missed his morning coffee and would never turn one down if offered. Known by his employers, friends, and family as a dependable guy, he would show up for the little things and always made time for others. He will be remembered by his unique chuckle, but most of all for the love he had for his family. He had a special bond with Tyson, his grandson, they spent all their time together on the farm, traveling, and working on various projects.

He is preceded in death by his mother, Shirley; brother, Scott; and nephew Kyle.

He is survived by his children, Andrew (Alicia Klinkhammer) Denny, Jacob Denny, and Nicole (Eric Precht) Denny, and Angel Brooks; 11 grandchildren, Lateka, Layla, Mason, Autumn, Tyson, Cam, Avany, Summer, Orion, Oakley, and Lincoln; father, Dale Denny Sr.; seven siblings, Randy Denny, Kathy (Steve) Dornquast, Joey Denny, Duane (Donna) Denny, Dale Jr. (Lori) Denny, Julie Cole-Denny, and Shelly (Troy) Fuller; along with many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
