Clarice E. Diedrich, age 83, of Elk River, formerly of Parkers Prairie, died Sunday, May 29, 2016, at her home.
Funeral services are 1 p.m., Saturday, June 4, 2016, at St. James Lutheran Church, South Effington Township with Rev. Dennis Angland officiating. Music is provided by organist, Maureen Diedrich. Burial is at the church cemetery.
Visitation is 5-8 p.m., Friday at Lind Family Funeral Home in Parkers Prairie and will continue one hour prior to the service at the church.
Clarice Effie Karger Diedrich was born March 21, 1933, in Vining, Minnesota, the eldest of seven children born to Willie C. and Martha (Mielke) Karger. She spent her early and teen years raised on the Karger farm. Clarice was a 1951, graduate of Parkers Prairie High School. On July 22, 1951, she was united in marriage to Elden G. Diedrich of Urbank, at Zion Lutheran Church, North Effington, Parkers Prairie. Clar and Elden had three sons, Stanley, Kenyon and Lory-Allan “Al”. They later moved to St. Paul and then Mounds View. They both retired from life-long employment on October 2, 1991. Elden after 38 years from Hart Ski Mfg and GML. Clar after 35 years in the liquor industry, in office management and accounting. She also was a U.S. Customs Import Specialist. The moved to their lake home in Outing in 1991, where they spent summers, and winters at their home at the Snow-To-Sun Resort in Weslaco, Texas. Elden died on August 26, 1992, in St. Paul at the age of 62 years and 11 months. Clar continued their planned seasonal retirement. In 1994, Clar moved to her new home on the Mississippi River in Elk River. In 1992, Clar met George Hunt Sievert of Montana and Elk River. They traveled the U.S. and Europe, spent summers in their Elk River homes and wintered in Texas, while George continued his employment. Clar and George made their prenuptials in 2002. George passed away on January 16, 2009 at the age of 78 years and ten months while in Pomona, California.
Clar was preceded in death by her parents, Willie and Martha Karger; grandparents; husband, Elden; step-mother Elna Karger, and George Sievert.
Clar is survived by her three sons, Stan Diedrich of Elk River, Ken ( Gretchen) of Tulsa, Oklahoma and Lory-Allan “Al” (Peg) Diedrich of Conrad, Montana; eight grandchildren, Melissa (Brent) Heinz, Caitlin Diedrich, Tabitha Adams, Sarah ( Steve) Biebe, Jennifer (Matthew) Hansen, Daniel (Diana) Diedrich, Autumn Diedrich and Philip Diedrich; five great-grandchildren, Gracie, Vivian, Isaiah, Josephine and Cecelia; six siblings, Charles (Gayle) Karger of St. Charles, Vonnie Karger of Shoreview, Rogetta (Russel) McLaughlin of Aitkin, Virginia (James) Jensen of Battle Lake, Gwendolyn (Brad) Truesdale of Minneapolis and Kathleen Kratz of Cokato; extended Sievert family, Jean Hunt Hanratty, Kevin and Sherri Sievert, Scott and Kris Sievert and Kari Sievert, all of Otsego; as well as many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Pallbearers are Kevin Karger, James Jensen II, Mike Franklin, Collin McLaughlin, Wil Kratz, Bruce Karger, Jeff Franklin and Kyle Karger.
