Cheryl Danette was born on September 11, 1961, to Troy and Elizabeth (Scott) Harrell in Compton, California. Her family relocated to Paragould, Arkansas where Cheryl spent most of her childhood. She attended Oak Grove schools and enlisted in the United States Navy when she was 18. She was honorably discharged in 1981, and moved to Almora, Minnesota where she gave birth to her first born with her then husband, Michael Lee. She remained in the area and started dating Gary Schmidt in 1989. Together they had 3 children and raised their blended family on the farm in Parkers Prairie.  Cheryl stayed at home to raise their children and continued to provide special care for their youngest daughter, Chelsea. Additionally, she helped Gary with his business by answering phones and completing bookwork. She was an all-around sports fan, but she was a Vikings superfan. She enjoyed reading, gardening, crossword puzzles, and watching reality TV shows. Above all, she enjoyed spending time with her family whom she loved very much. She will be dearly missed.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

Cheryl is survived by her husband, Gary Schmidt of Parkers Prairie; children, Alicia (Joe Peppin) Lee of St. Cloud, Kaitlyn (Justin) Christman of Parkers Prairie; Gaven (Sierra Carlson) Schmidt of Fergus Falls, and Chelsea Schmidt of Alexandria; grandchildren, Xander Christman and Gabriel Schmidt; brothers, Ronnie, Gary, and Kenny; sister; Kathy; brothers-in-law, Sonny, Doug, and Dewey Schmidt; sisters-in-law, Betty Lint and Joyce Ahlers; and many nieces and nephews.
