Charles “Chuck” Erickson was born July 30, 1929, to John and Esther (Tangquist) Erickson in Thief River Falls. He was raised in the area community and graduated from Lincoln High School in 1948, later attending St. Paul Bible College from 1948 to 1949. Chuck was united in marriage to Nona Gene Davies on September 3, 1955, at the Evangelical Free Church in Thief River Falls. Together, they were blessed with four children: Timothy, Steven, Mary, and Marsha. Chuck began his career working in men’s clothing in Thief River Falls and for a brief time in Benson. He later worked for City Dairy in Thief River Falls for three years and assisted at Green Funeral Home. He went on to establish his own career as a sales representative for Schweigert Meat Company, a role he held for over twenty years. Chuck later owned and operated, “Health Foods Specialties” nutrition store before moving to Alexandria in 1991, where he worked as a tour director for Utopia Tours and part-time at Anderson Funeral Home. Chuck was very involved in the Kiwanis Club in Thief River Falls for many years and remained deeply active in church life in both Thief River Falls and Alexandria Covenant Churches, where he served on numerous boards. He enjoyed singing solos, duets with Nona, and quartets, and was dedicated to Sunday School and high school youth ministry. He was especially active in the Bluewater Covenant Bible Camp ministry, where he served in several leadership roles and cherished many years spent with family and friends. Chuck also found great meaning in visiting the sick and shut-ins in hospitals and nursing homes. He deeply loved his grandchildren and made it a priority to be involved in their lives, attending their special occasions. Chuck and Nona also enjoyed traveling together, including several cruises and trips with loved ones. Later in life, he took up golf and enjoyed the game, even if he would say he never quite mastered it.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Nona; brothers, Mendell (Dorothy) Erickson and James (Marilyn) Erickson; three sisters, Edla (Nels) Holmberg, Pauline (Archie) Ptacek and Genevieve (John) Bowman; and two nieces.
