Obituary

Chad M. Way, age 56, of Alexandria, passed away peacefully surrounded by family on Tuesday, January 13, 2026, at his home following a short battle with pancreatic cancer.

A celebration of life service will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday January 24, 2026, at The Church in the Pines, Alexandria. Visitation will be from 9 a.m. until the 11 a.m. service, with lunch to follow. The service will be livestreamed and can be viewed on the church’s website (click here) or the app. Casual attire is encouraged, Chad loved Grey or Navy-Blue shirts with blue jeans.

Chad Michael Way was born on December 7, 1969, in Redwood Falls, Minnesota, to Robert and Lynndene Way. During his childhood, the family lived in Wabasso until relocating to Lamberton, Minnesota, where Chad attended grade school. In 1979, the family moved to Missouri, and in 1986 they moved back to Minnesota settling in Alexandria.

Chad graduated from Jefferson High School in 1988 and went on to attend Alexandria Technical School, where he studied Machine Tool Technology from 1988 to 1990. He took great pride in his work and built a long and respected career as a machinist. Chad concluded his career working for Powers Machining, where he was a valued employee for the past 27 years.

In 1989, Chad met the love of his life, Tammy Springer. They were married on June 12, 1993, beginning a life together rooted in faith, love, commitment, and family. Chad was a devoted husband and a proud father. He and Tammy welcomed their first son, Michael, on May 25, 1996, and later their second son, Ethan, on March 21, 1998. Chad’s greatest joy came from his family, especially his treasured granddaughter, Natalie, who held a very special place in his heart.

Chad loved the outdoors and simple pleasures. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, shooting guns, grilling, and smoking meats. He was happiest spending time with those he loved, sharing laughter, stories, and meals together.

Chad grew up in a Christian home and became a man of deep and abiding faith. He served the Lord in many capacities throughout his life, guiding his family through love, integrity, and example.

Chad is survived by his beloved wife of 32 years, Tammy; sons, Michael and Ethan (Melissa); a cherished granddaughter, Natalie; parents, Robert and Lynndene Way; brother, Jeff (Jane); a nephew and nieces; along with many loving aunts, uncles, cousins, and dear friends.

Chad will be remembered for his strong work ethic, generous heart, steady faith, and unwavering love for his family. He leaves behind a legacy of devotion, kindness, and strength that will live on in all who knew and loved him.

His words through this have been, "It will be okay, even if it's not okay it will be okay" and we can be okay knowing he is at peace and is in no more pain.
