Carol A. Robertson, age 87, of Alexandria, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on Friday, August 21, 2026, at Bethany on the Lake in Alexandria under the care of Moments Hospice.
A service celebrating Carol’s life will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday, August 29, 2026, at Bethesda Lutheran Church in Alexandria with Pastor Clay Ellingson officiating. Visitation is one hour prior to the service.
Interment will take place at 4 p.m., Saturday, August 29th, at Hawley Cemetery, with fellowship to follow at the First United Methodist Church in Hawley.
Carol was born November 5, 1938, in George, Iowa, to Dale and Ruth (Daggett) Ripley. When she was four years old, her parents purchased and moved to a farm east of Dawson, Minnesota. Carol attended Country School District 102, where several of her classmates were also her cousins. She later attended school in town, where she completed high school. Following graduation, she moved to the Twin Cities and worked as a secretary.
Carol met and married Chuck Robertson in 1973. Carol was a homemaker, and together she and Chuck raised their blended family of four children. In 1988, Carol and Chuck moved to Richfield, Minnesota, where they lived until Chuck’s retirement in 2008, when they moved to their current home in Alexandria.
Carol enjoyed volunteering at church and was a member of the Rebecca Circle at Bethesda Lutheran Church. She had a creative side and enjoyed painting ceramics and embroidery. She was also an excellent baker and especially loved making cookies. Some of Carol’s favorite memories were made during the more than 35 summers she and Chuck spent at her brother’s lake cabin on Lake Minnewaska. She cherished those weekends filled with rummage sales, antique shops, trips to the ceramic shop, and “cousin picnics.” Carol loved animals, especially the many family pets they had throughout the years. She also exercised regularly at Curves, continuing until the end of June.
Carol will be remembered for her warm heart, love of family, creativity, generosity, and dedication to staying active. She treasured time with her family, summers at the lake, her beloved pets, and the simple joys of everyday life. She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Dale and Ruth Ripley; brother, Dennis; and brothers-in-law, James Robertson and Carl Erickson.
Carol is survived by her husband of 53 years, Chuck; children, Michelle (Chris) Remme, Tom Robertson, Sheila Borene, and Maren (Roger) Samuelson; sister, Sharon (Gary) Kinler; eight grandchildren, Clay (Meredith) Remme, Kaley Remme, Kelsey Remme (Doug Frankie), Tyler Wheelright, Emma Robertson, Devan Borene, Megan (Zach) Johnson-Hochhalter and Sophie (Cody) Johnson-Crabtree; eight great-grandchildren; three brothers-in-law, David (Karie) Robertson, Michael (Gayle) Robertson, Joseph (Christy) Robertson; and sisters-in-law, Karen Erickson and Ina Robertson; along with many nieces, nephews, cousins, dear church and “Curves” friends.
Urn bearers are her grandchildren. Honorary urn bearers are the members of Rebecca’s Circle.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Moments Hospice or Bethesda Lutheran Church.
