Brandon K. Whiting

Brandon Keith Whiting of Ft. Lauderdale, Florida passed away on November 27, 2022 at the age of 43. He was born on March 27, 1979 in Crookston, Minnesota to Greg and Betty, missing his dad’s birthday by a day, landing on his mom’s, giving them both the best gift possible.  

After growing up in Minnesota and graduating from Crookston High School, Brandon moved to Ft. Walton Beach, Florida. Eventually, he made Orlando his home, working as a dolphin trainer at Sea World’s Discovery Cove for 17 years. In 2020, Brandon and his partner Andrew purchased a home and moved to Ft. Lauderdale together. 

Brandon was full of love, kindness and had the biggest heart. He was loved by all who knew him -making friends everywhere he went and making a difference in so many lives. He lit up any room he entered. He is remembered for his compassionate and supportive soul, as well as for his contagious energy and unforgettable personality. Brandon will be greatly missed. 

He is survived by his partner, Andrew Smith; father, Greg Whiting; siblings, Alyssa Whiting and nephew, Cayden Hietala, Ashley (Ginelle) Whiting, Jeremy Chandler, Nichelle (Jeff) Kluver, Travis Rasmussen, Dereck (Becky) Rasmussen, and Justin (Kelly) Chandler; maternal grandmother, Marilyn Bennett; step-mom, Marilyn Whiting; step-dad, Mike Boyd; additional nieces and nephews; along with aunts, uncles, and multiple cousins.

He is preceded in death by his mother, Betty; baby brother, Michael; paternal grandparents, Milton and Lois Whiting; and maternal grandfather, Cliff Bennett.

A service in Florida will be held at 2 p.m., Saturday, December 3, 2022, at Florida at Beth’s Burger Bar, 9938 Universal Blvd #120, Orlando, Florida 32819.

A service in Minnesota will be held at 2 p.m., Wednesday, December 7, 2022, at Lind Family Funeral Home, 1623 10th Ave E, Alexandria, Minnesota 56308, with Pastor Dave Mergens officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service.
