Bonnie G. Salto, age 80, of Alexandria, died on Monday, January 5, 2026, at Alomere Health.
A private family service will be held.
Bonnie Gay (Hartman)Salto was born on October 28, 1945, to Francis Cyril and Ruth Elaine (Jensen) Hartman in Slayton. The family moved to Alexandria in 1951, where Bonnie attended school and graduated from Jefferson High School in 1964. Following her education, Bonnie worked as a dental assistant for Dr. Harvey Larson. Bonnie was united in marriage to Norman Dean Salto of Alexandria at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in 1967. The couple began their life together on a small farm in the Alexandria area. To this union, four children were born, Ted July 1968, Tim and Tom, December 1969, and Teresa May 1977. In 1974, Norm and Bonnie took a leap of faith and started a small trucking company, Salto Enterprises Inc., which remained their family business until retirement in 2022.
Bonnie enjoyed baking, country crafts, and caring for eight little poodles and chihuahuas, and was a supporter of humane societies and MCCL of Minnesota. However, her greatest love in life was her husband and children.
She is preceded in death by her parents; sisters, Lori and Mona Lisa; son, Ted; grandson, Zachary; along with many aunts, uncles and cousins.
Bonnie is survived by her husband of 58 years, Norman; sons, Tim (Stephanie) of Long Prairie, and Tom of Alexandria; daughter, Teresa (Mike) Harstad of Parkers Prairie; brother, James (JoAnn) Hartman of Alexandria; sister, Carol Swanson of Alexandria; nine grandchildren, Mike Jr., Blaine (Ashley), Jessica, Britney, Hannah, Chelsey (Jordan), Jonathon, Elizabeth, and Rebekah; and eight great-grandchildren, Aiden, Tyson, Aiden, Harper, Brynlee, Hattie, Bo, and Nevaeh.
