Beverly M. “Bev” Olson, age 92, of Parkers Prairie, died peacefully surrounded by family on Friday, February 28, 2025, at St. William’s Living Center in Parkers Prairie.
A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m., on Friday, March 7, 2025, at First Evangelical Lutheran Church in Parkers Prairie with Rev. Ben Dyrhaug officiating. Music is provided by organist, Julie Lindgren. The interment will take place at Parkers Prairie Cemetery.
Visitation is 5-7 p.m., on Thursday, March 6th at Lind Family Funeral Home in Parkers Prairie and will continue one hour prior to the service at the church. There will be a visitation 1-2 p.m., on Thursday, March 6th at St. William’s Living Center.
Beverly May was born on May 27, 1932, to William and May (Perkins) Johnson in Compton Township, Otter Tail County. She was baptized and confirmed at Compton Swedish Lutheran Church and attended country school through the eighth grade. Bev was united in marriage to Laverne Olson on July 12, 1953, at First Evangelical Lutheran Church in Parkers Prairie. Together they farmed until 1983, when their sons, Gary and Bruce, took over the operation. They moved into Parkers Prairie to live and continued helping on the farm. Laverne died suddenly in 1986, and Bev continued helping her sons with the farm, running parts and babysitting her grandchildren. She was known as “Grandma Bev” to many that knew and loved her. Bev developed a close relationship with Hilding Geithman and together they enjoyed many years of friendship. She was a member of First Evangelical Lutheran Church and was active in its Ladies Aid, Rachel Circle, and taught Sunday School. Bev also enjoyed quilting and flower gardening.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Laverne; son, Bruce in 2018; grandson, Kyle in 2024; great-grandson, Bryton Trosdahl in 2018; sisters, Marilyn (Chuck) Carlson and Irene (Marvin) Goebel; sister-in-law, Joanne Johnson; and dear friend, Hilding Geithman.
Bev is survived by her daughter, Linda (Dick) Trosdahl of Vining; son, Gary (Kathee Carlson) Olson of Parkers Prairie; daughter-in-law Joyce Olson of Parkers Prairie; brother, Russell Johnson of Cut Bank, Montana; four grandchildren, Robert (Tammy) Trosdahl, Laura (Jake) Grefsrud, Chelsea (Arnie) Nelson, and Charlie Olson; two great-grandsons, Austin Trosdahl and Mason Grefsrud; along with many nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers are Robert Trosdahl, Charlie Olson, Jake Grefsrud, Arnie Nelson, Steve Hoffman, and Scott Hoffman. Honorary pallbearers are Laura Grefsrud, Chelsea Nelson, Tammy Trosdahl, and Kyle Olson.
