Barbara Ann was born on August 15, 1957, to Maurice and JoAnn (Burnson) Johnson in Willmar. She grew up in Terrace and graduated from Glenwood High School in 1975. Barb was united in marriage to the love of her life, Rick Brower, on March 21, 1975. Following their marriage, they were blessed with four children and lived in Terrace for 41 years. She worked as an aide at the Lakeview Care Center in Glenwood for 17 years, and the BBE School District as a para for 23 years. She was an active member of the Brooten Community Church. In May of 2016, Barb and Rick moved to Alexandria and became active in the Alexandria Covenant Church. She became a part of the Anderson Florist family and fully enjoyed her time working there. Barb enjoyed gardening, crafting, sewing, reading, and baking. Barb’s true calling was being a mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and bringing laughter to all she could. Following her grandchildren’s school and sports activities was a highlight for her and spending time together with them filled her love bucket. Family, friends, and faith were what mattered most to Barb.
She was preceded in death by her father, Maurice, and father-in-law, Richard Brower.
Barb is survived by her husband of 50 years, Rick; three daughters, Amy (Eric) Zenner of Alexandria, Melissa Brower of Belgrade, and Becky (Chad) Melton of Rosemount; son, Michael (Lindsey) Brower of Belgrade; 12 grandchildren, Greta, Leah, Jada, Hunter, Paige, Maxwell, Sawyer, Spencer, Sheila, Rae, Monica, and Devin; two great-grandchildren, Arthur and Nora; mother, JoAnn Johnson of Glenwood; mother-in-law, Katheleen Brower of Willmar; three brothers, Dave (Robin) Johnson of South Carolina, Gary (Jeri) Johnson and Bryan (Amy) Johnson both of Glenwood; sisters-in-law; brothers-in-law; along with cousins, nieces, nephews, and a host of friends.
