Arlene J. Mix, age 76, of Miltona, died Thursday, May 20, 2010, at Douglas County Hospital in Alexandria.

Funeral services will be held 10:30 a.m., Monday, May 24, 2010, at Faith Lutheran Church in Miltona with Rev. Kari van Wakeren officiating. Music will be provided by Kevin Lee, Lori and Jon Hanson. Burial will be at Spruce Hill Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 5-8 p.m., Sunday at Lind Family Funeral Home in Miltona and continue one hour prior to the service at the church.

Arlene JoAnn Mix was born February 13, 1934, on the family farm in Spruce Hill Township, Douglas County to Leonard and Amanda (Larson) Hanson. She was baptized April 1, 1934, and confirmed at Spruce Hill Lutheran Church. She attended country school and graduated from Alexandria High School in 1952. Following her education she moved to Minneapolis where she worked as a bookkeeper at First National Bank. She was united in marriage to Howard Mix on June 29, 1953, at Spruce Hill Lutheran Church. Following their marriage they lived in Minneapolis, Montgomery, and Mason City, Iowa. They moved to St. Louis Park in 1965, where she worked at Park National Bank as a bookkeeper until she retired in 1990. Following her retirement, she and her husband moved to Miltona, to live on Lake Irene. Arlene enjoyed spending time with family and friends and traveling and was a lover of all types of animals. She moved to St. William's Living Center in Parkers Prairie in March of 2009, due to an illness. She was a member of Faith Lutheran Church and its Ladies Aid. She was a former member of Spruce Hill Lutheran Church and was active in its upkeep. She was a former team member of the Rose City Threshing & Heritage Festival.

Arlene is survived by her husband, Howard; two daughters, Julie (Reid) Droegemueller of Ramsey and Jill (Mark vander Molen) Mix of Denver, Colorado; two brothers, Norman (Pat) Hanson of Durango, Colorado and Roger (Janet) Hanson of Corcoran, Minnesota; sister, Brenda (Jerry) Salmonson of St. Francis, Minnesota; sister-in-law, Vernette Hanson of Miltona; three grandsons, Ryan, Seth, and Scott ( Nicole) Droegemueller; and a great-granddaughter, Hailey.

She was preceded in death by her parents and brother, Richard Hanson.

Pallbearers will be Ryan Droegemueller, Seth Droegemueller, Scott Droegemueller, Mark vander Molen, Reid Droegemueller and Josh Johnson. Honorary pallbearers will be Stacy Hoskins, Nicole Droegemueller and Hailey Droegemueller.
