Amy Beth Pederson Deitz, age 63, of Alexandria, died peacefully at her home on Monday, June 29, 2026, following a recent diagnosis of pancreatic cancer.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m., Monday, July 6, 2026, at First Lutheran Church in Alexandria with Pastoral Intern Jessica Paulsen officiating.
Visitation is 4-6 p.m., Sunday, July 5th, at Lind Family Funeral Home in Alexandria and will continue one hour prior to the service at the church.
Amy Beth was born on August 28, 1962, to Oscar and Patricia (Lembke) Pederson in Willmar. She grew up in the Marshall area and graduated from high school in 1980. Amy continued her education at Moorhead State University, where she earned her Bachelor of Arts degree in Criminal Justice in 1984. She then worked for a year as an admissions counselor at Moorhead State. Amy was united in marriage to Steve Deitz on July 6, 1985, in Park Rapids. Following their marriage, they moved to Windom, where she served as the youth director at Windom Methodist Church for two years. In the fall of 1987, they made their home in Alexandria. Amy was an on-air personality for the show “Mornings with Amy and Dick Trisko.” She also called BINGO once a week at the VFW. In 1989, she began working as a social worker for Douglas County Social Services, where she specialized in adult chemical dependency, adoption, custody, and child protection. She retired in 2020. In retirement, Amy treasured time spent with her family, especially her grandchildren. She also devoted herself to caring for her mother, Pat, who moved to Alexandria to be near family. Amy was a member of First Lutheran Church, where she was very involved, especially with youth activities. She enjoyed scrapbooking, boating, camping, shopping, singing, and music. Amy cherished time spent with friends and family and was always willing to support others whenever she could.
She was preceded in death by her father Oscar Pederson; and granddaughter CC Meier.
Amy is survived by her husband of 41 years, Steve; mother Pat Pederson of Alexandria; daughter, Molly (Anders) Meier of Sartell; son, Ted (Lexis) Deitz of South Elgin, Illinois; two brothers, Steve Pederson of Alexandria and Paul (Beth) Pederson of Lakeville; and five grandchildren, Penny, Trygve, Leif, and Winnie Meier, and Brevik Deitz.
Urn bearers are Val Trumm, Judy Backhaus, Jodi Rehovsky, Nancy Zimmermann, and Robin Sweeney.
