Mildred "Midge" Benzinger

On the wings of guardian angels, Mildred “Midge” Benzinger was carried to eternal peace on Friday, August 3, 2018 at age 86.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m., Wednesday, August 8, 2018, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Alexandria with Fr. Bob Kieffer officiating. Music is provided by pianist, Laurie J. Youngers and cantor, Erin Takle. Entombment is at the St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery, Alexandria.

Visitation is from 9:30 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. prior to the service at the church.

Midge was the consummate homemaker/cook and all things domestic. Her family was the focus and center of her life.

She survived and prevailed over major health challenges, including a debilitating car accident, with grace and humor. She went gently into that goodnight on Friday, August 3, 2018.

A devout Catholic mother of six, Midge is survived by four daughters, Linda (Glenn) Hagen, Sharon (Dick) Lanigan, Donna Westad, and Janis (Jim) Phillips; two sons, Keith (Melania) Benzinger and Jeff Benzinger; four grandchildren, Jamie (Jennifer) Lanigan, Justin (Emily) Phillips, Nicole (Ben) Zoubek, and Andrew Benzinger; and five great grandchildren, Alex and Bennett Lanigan, Jackson and Emerson Phillips and Charlie Zoubek.

Preceded in death by her parents, Anna and Joseph Suchy of Urbank; dear husband, Herb Benzinger; granddaughter, Krista Lanigan; and son-in-law, Don Westad.

The family extends many thanks to the wonderful healthcare workers at Douglas County Hospital, Galeon in Osakis and Bethany on the Lake.

Pallbearers are Lonnie Benzinger, Justin Phillips, Nicole Zoubek, Andrew Benzinger, Ben Lanigan, and Ben Zoubek.
