Lawrence G. Norris, age 84, of Parkers Prairie, died Sunday, September 21, 2014, surrounded by his family at home.
Memorial services are 1:00 p.m., Saturday, September 27, 2014, at First Evangelical Lutheran Church in Parkers Prairie with Rev. Del Moen officiating. Music is provided by organist, Kristi Wussow. Burial is at Grove Lake Cemetery, Glenwood.
Visitation is one hour prior to the service at the church.
Lawrence Gallen Norris was born December 25, 1929, to Stanley and Laura (Harris) Norris in Ellendale. He attended country school. He was united in marriage to Donna May Chamberlain October of 1948, at Irvington Presbyterian Church in Irvington, Iowa. Lawrence worked on a ranch in North Dakota for several years. He moved to Grove Lake where he farmed and sold oil for Cen-pea Oil Company from 1957 - 1980. In 1980, Lawrence moved to Parkers Prairie to farm and sell scrap iron with his son, Wayne. He retired in 2014. Lawrence enjoyed fishing, going to tractor shows, the Vining Watermelon Feed and Parkers Prairie Lion's Smelt Fry.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Donna May Norris; brother, John Norris; sister, Leotta Wood; daughters, Nancy Norris and Suzan Mitchell; and brother-in-law, Con Wood.
Lawrence is survived by his three sons, Jerry Norris of Hoffman, Wayne Norris of Parkers Prairie and Dale Norris of Barrett; son-in-law, Ralph Mitchell of West Fargo, North Dakota; 11 grandchildren, Gallen Norris, Heather Norris, Michael Mitchell, Kevin Mitchell, Carolyn Mitchell, Keith Norris, Nick (Allison) Leegaard, Aaron Legaard, Lawrence Norris, Wayne Norris, Jr. and Donna Mae Norris; and eight great-grandchildren, Ayden Leegaard, Troy Leegaard, Ethan Neuman, Kason Leegaard, Kora Leegaard, Kaeli Mitchell, Briana Mitchell and Suzy Tillis.
