Lucile “Lucy” H. Bullis, age 87, of Alexandria, died on Tuesday, November 5, 2019, at Knute Nelson Memorial Home in Alexandria.
A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m., on Sunday, November 10, 2019, at Lind Family Funeral Home in Alexandria with Chaplin Michael Peterson officiating and providing music. Interment will take place at Lawrence Presbyterian Cemetery in Wendell.
Visitation is one hour prior to the service.
Lucile Helen Schell was born on July 14, 1932, to William and Nora (Lee) Schell in Pencer, Minnesota. She was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith. She attended and graduated from Roseau High School and continued her education in Crookston to receive her license practical nurse (LPN) diploma. After her education, Lucy moved to Fergus Falls to work at a nursing home, where she also met her husband, Gerald Bullis. They were united in marriage on November 6, 1955, in Roseau. Following their marriage, the couple moved to Alexandria briefly where Lucy worked at Bethany Nursing Home and later moved to Wendell where Lucy stayed at home to raise their family. They moved to Elbow Lake, and Lucy stayed at home for a short time before returning to work as an LPN. Following Gerald’s retirement, the couple returned to Alexandria. Lucy was very involved in her church by singing in the choir, attending circle meetings and Bible studies, and all social activities that were church related. She was exceptional at playing the piano, singing, fishing, knitting, walking, canning, tending her garden, and spending time with family
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Gerald; son, Bradley; and sister, Rebecca Jackson.
Lucy is survived by her two daughters, Karen (David) Perseke and Kathy (Mike) Mattson both of Alexandria; two sons, Keith Bullis of Alexandria and Kevin (Kathy) Bullis of Whitewater, Wisconsin; eight grandchildren, Angie Perseke, Amy (fiancé, Josh Anderson) Perseke, April (Matt) Zondervan, Ryan (Rose) Mattson, Sean (Jenna Jensen) Mattson, Jack Bullis, Joseph Bullis and Emy Bullis; eight great-grandchildren, Dawson, Drew, Alex, Isaiah, Gabriel, Alexis, Mason, and Elsa; and twin sister, Lauretta Anderson of California.
Urnbearers are her grandchildren, Angie Perseke, Amy Perseke, April Zondervan, and Emy Bullis.
