Virginia M. Barta, age 83, of Parkers Prairie, died Wednesday, December 4. 2013, at the St. Williams Living Center in Parkers Prairie.

Funeral services will be held 2:00 p.m., Friday, December 6, 2013, at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Parkers Prairie with Rev. Kirk Lee officiating. Music will be provided by organist, Gloria Hollatz and vocalist, Arlo Peterson. Burial will take place at Parkers Prairie Cemetery.

Visitation will take place one hour prior to the service at the church.

Virginia Marie Barta was born July 26, 1930, to Henry G. and Louise A. (Gaedke) Barta in Spruce Hill Township, Douglas County, Minnesota. She was baptized August 1, 1930, in West Miltona by Pastor Dreyer and confirmed June 2, 1946, at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Parkers Prairie by Pastor Ansorge. She grew up in Spruce Hill Township and attended country school in Miltona Township. Following her mother's death in 1981, she and her dad moved into Parkers Prairie. She began working for Productive Alternatives Inc., in Parkers Prairie in 1992, where she loved going to work every day and held the title of oldest employee. Following her father's death, she moved in with Vic and Lynn Edenloff. She moved to St. William's Living Center in 2009, where she lived until the time of her death. She loved copying print out of the newspaper, people watching, going out to eat, playing gin rummy, looking for change on the beach and watching the Minnesota Twins. She looked forward to attending the Annual Lion's Club Christmas party where she loved to dance. She was a life-long member of Immanuel Lutheran Church.

Virginia is survived by her three nieces, Kimberly (Patrick) Nesser, Vicki Gagnon and Cindy (Tom) Bennett; great-niece and nephews, Shawn Bennett, Brandon Bennett, Ashley Gagnon and Andrew Gagnon; great great-nephew, Thomas Bennett; foster family, Vicki Edenloff, Al (Celeste) Edenloff, Brandon Beliveau, Lee (Loray) Edenloff, Katelyn Edenloff and Carly Edenloff and her faithful friend and guardian, Barbara Helgeson.

She was preceded in death by her parents; and two sisters, Lorraine Peterson and Ann Jeanette Barta.

Pallbearers are Brandon Bennett, Shawn Bennett, Carla Bettin, Ralph and Judy Hemmerlin and Kendra Koep. Honorary pallbearers are the staff and clients of PAI.
