Eleanor Juntunen

Eleanor H. Juntunen, age 94, of Alexandria, died following a brief illness Tuesday, February 3, 2015, at Alex Assisted Living, formerly Peaceful Bliss, in Alexandria.

Funeral Services are 1 p.m., Saturday, February 7, 2015, at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in rural Farwell, Moe Township, with Rev. Michael Peterson officiating. Music is provided by organist, Mertice Brueske and vocalist, Rev. Michael Peterson. Burial is at the church cemetery.

Visitation is Saturday, two hours prior to the service at the church.

Eleanor Helen Juntunen was born July 20, 1920, to Charles and Margaret (Moilanen) Juntunen in La Grand Township as the youngest of 13 children. Eleanor was raised in the Christian faith and worshiped with her family at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Moe Township. Her faith in God sustained her throughout her life. She grew up on the family farm and attended country school in Moe Township. Eleanor attended Alexandria High School and graduated in 1938. She resided on the family farm her entire life where she was a homemaker and caregiver for her brothers. Eleanor also cared for her mother with her sister Anna at their home for eight years. Eleanor was proud of her Finnish heritage and her ownership of the Juntunen family farm which became a century farm in 2012. Eleanor will be remembered for her faith in God, kindness to everyone and her love for family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Peter, John, William, Willmar, Emil, Edward, Helmer and Walter Juntunen; sisters, Nina Juntunen, Minnie Seifirt, Anna Juntunen and Florence Wrolson.

Eleanor is survived by nieces and nephews; Harold Juntunen of Clermont, Florida, James Juntunen of Chicago, Illinois, Carol Peterson of Bloomington, Sharon Juntunen of Des Plaines, Illinois, Elizabeth (Ron) Braeberg of Addison, Illinois, Ronald (Marian) Wrolson and Sheryl (Ronald) Listrom both of Alexandria; many great nieces and nephews and great-great nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers are Bobbi Kluver, Jeff Kluver, Gregg Listrom, Jana Dillingham, Lisa Nickel-Felton and Ronald Wrolson.
